Administrative Care Coordination/Ombudsman Unit (ACCU)

Services

The Administrative Care Coordination/Ombudsman Unit (ACCU) program provides assistance to HealthChoice members with the following:

  • Understanding their HealthChoice benefits and how to access services
  • Explaining how to choose a Managed Care Organization (MCO) that best fits their individual and or family needs
  • Assisting with locating primary care physicians, prenatal providers, pediatricians and or dentists
  • Linking to transportation, health care and or other community resources
  • Acting as an advocate to fully address health care needs
  • Assisting with the coordination of complex medical issues
  • Helping to resolve HealthChoice complaints
  • Explaining how to renew Medicaid benefits through Maryland Health Connections
  • Clarifying the MCO annual renewal process
  • Reviewing the appeal and grievance rights under HealthChoice
