Administrative Care Coordination/Ombudsman Unit (ACCU)

The Administrative Care Coordination/Ombudsman Unit (ACCU) program provides assistance to HealthChoice members with the following:

Understanding their HealthChoice benefits and how to access services
Explaining how to choose a Managed Care Organization (MCO) that best fits their individual and or family needs
Assisting with locating primary care physicians, prenatal providers, pediatricians, and or dentists
Linking to transportation, health care, and or other community resources
Acting as an advocate to fully address health care needs
Assisting with the coordination of complex medical issues
Helping to resolve HealthChoice complaints
Explaining how to renew Medicaid benefits through Maryland Health Connections
Clarifying the MCO annual renewal process
Reviewing the appeal and grievance rights under HealthChoice
