Women, Infants & Children (WIC)
WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a federally-funded program that provides healthy supplemental foods and nutrition counseling and breastfeeding promotion/support for pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children under the age of five.
Clients
Pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 residing in Prince George’s County, who meet certain requirements, are eligible to receive benefits. Such requirements include income eligibility and state residency. The applicant must be individually determined to be at “nutrition risk” by a health professional or trained WIC staff.
Fees
There are no fees. Eligibility for the WIC Program is based on household income per number of family members, residency in Prince George’s County and a nutritional need.
Staff
The WIC staff is comprised of registered dietitians and nutritionists, lactation other professional providers, para-professional and clerical staff.
Services
WIC Program provides:
- Nutrition Education and Counseling
- Breastfeeding
- Education and Support
- Selected nutritious foods to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women and children up to age five who are at a nutritional risk. Foods include, but are not limited to:
- Milk
- Cheese
- Eggs
- Cereal
- Infant Formula
- Fruits and Vegetables
Beginning in May 2017, all WIC benefits will be provided through electronic benefit transfer system or eWIC.
WIC also provides referrals for services to healthcare providers, government and community-based organizations.

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
