Women, Infants & Children (WIC)
WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a federally-funded program that provides healthy supplemental foods and nutrition counseling and breastfeeding promotion/support for pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children under the age of five.
Pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 residing in Prince George’s County, who meet certain requirements, are eligible to receive benefits. Such requirements include income eligibility and state residency. The applicant must be individually determined to be at “nutrition risk” by a health professional or trained WIC staff.
There are no fees. Eligibility for the WIC Program is based on household income per number of family members, residency in Prince George’s County and a nutritional need.
The WIC staff is comprised of registered dietitians and nutritionists, lactation other professional providers, para-professional and clerical staff.
