Due to COVID-19 precautions, Prince George’s County Vital Records services are suspended through March, 31st. Starting April 1st, the Vital Records office will be on a modified schedule and will open Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to process death requests.
Requests for certified Maryland death certificates may be made at the Hyattsville location on a walk-in basis only for deaths that occurred in Maryland after January 1, 2015.
Certificates for deaths that occurred prior to January 1, 2015 can be obtained from the Division of Vital Records, 6764-B Reistertown Road Baltimore, MD 21215.
You may obtain a Maryland Death Certificate if you are:
A funeral director
An immediate relative of the deceased
A beneficiary of the deceased
A person of tangible interest
There is a $25 fee for the first certified death certificate and $20 for each additional certificate purchased the same day. Cash, check, money orders, credit or debit cards (Visa, Discover, MasterCard) are accepted as payment.
A $2.50 service fee applies to credit/debit card transactions.
