Rey de Guzman Named Acting Associate Director of S/RPRD
Rey de Guzman has over 35 years of experience in various departments and divisions within the Prince George’s County regulatory system. Most recently, he serves as Chief Engineer at DPIE’s Site/Road Plan Review Division and is responsible for the review and permitting of all bridge and roadway construction, roadway improvements, storm drain infrastructure, stormwater management and flood mitigation facilities and policies, floodplain management, management of projects within the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area, and site grading as it relates to land development in the County. He also serves on many technical and policy entities in the establishment of regulations, process development, and Code changes. His achievements include the National Capital Business Park, National Harbor; MGM – National Harbor; Suitland Town Center; University of Maryland Regional Medical Center; FedEx Field; Konterra; and the establishment of DPIE itself.
Prior to DPIE, Mr. de Guzman served as principal engineer at the Department of Environmental Resources (now DoE) Watershed Protection Branch. He was promoted to District Engineer at the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) and then promoted to Division Chief for the Engineering and Inspections Division.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Maryland, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He is also the recipient of various prestigious awards, including the 2019 CEAM Service Award, which honors outstanding urban land development professionals.
Mr. de Guzman obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology, Manila, Philippines.
In his spare time, Mr. de Guzman is very involved in his church in Alexandria, Virginia, and with family.
