Advancing Markets for Producers Pilot Program to Continue Expanding Opportunities for County Agriculture

County officials are sharing this update in response to questions from local farmers seeking clarification about the program following recent federal changes. 

The AMP Pilot Program will continue supporting Prince George’s County producers by expanding market opportunities, strengthening long-term farm productivity and increasing County residents’ access to locally grown agricultural products. 

“Our team has heard from local farmers who want to better understand what these federal changes mean for the program,” said Dr. Samuel B. Moki, Director of the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment. “We want our agricultural community to know that Prince George’s County remains fully committed to this effort. Although the program is now operating under a new federally designated name, our commitment to supporting local farmers and strengthening our agricultural economy has not changed.” 

The County has updated its website and program materials to reflect the new name and provide producers with a clear, consistent source of information. The Department of the Environment has also established a dedicated email address, AgGrants@pgcmd.gov, where farmers, agricultural producers and other interested stakeholders can ask questions, request information and receive assistance related to the AMP Pilot Program. 

The Department is also inviting all Prince George’s County farmers and agricultural producers to add their information to its farmer database. The information collected will help the County better understand and support the local agricultural community and keep producers informed about relevant programs, resources, funding opportunities and upcoming events. Farmers can join the database here. 

Through the AMP Pilot Program, the County will continue working with eligible Prince George’s County farmers to evaluate approaches that strengthen farm businesses, expand market access and create new opportunities for residents to purchase locally grown products.
