Climate and Energy
The Climate and Energy Division of the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment leads the County’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate clean energy adoption, and prepare our communities for the impacts of climate change. Through innovative programs, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, we work to build a healthier, more resilient, and climate-ready Prince George’s County for all who call it home.
Our Mission & Vision
Mission: To advance equitable, community-driven climate solutions that reduce emissions, expand clean energy access, and strengthen the County’s ability to adapt to a changing climate.
Vision: A thriving, carbon-neutral Prince George’s County where every resident enjoys clean air, affordable energy, and a safe, healthy environment—today and for generations to come.
Our Approach to Equity
Equity is at the heart of everything we do. We recognize that climate change disproportionately affects historically underserved and overburdened communities. Our work prioritizes these communities in program design, funding allocation, and resource distribution. We actively engage residents in shaping solutions, ensuring that the benefits of climate action—lower energy costs, cleaner air, safer neighborhoods—are shared by all.
