Bulky Trash
Prince George’s County is proud to announce a faster and improved curbside bulky trash pickup that will allow residents receiving County-contracted trash and recycling collection services to set out four (4) bulky items or four (4) tightly secured bags with small household items per week NEXT to their trash can on their regular collection days - NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED! Residents only paying for bulky trash services will continue to schedule through PGC311. Residents must place items at the curb by *5 a.m. for pickup.
All collection services are provided to residents receiving County-contracted services or who pay a fee for bulky trash removal. Residents may verify their waste collection day at bit.ly/PGCcollectiondaylookup by entering their household address in the search bar and reviewing the list in the white pop-up box. These services include curbside bulky, regular trash and recycling, food scraps composting (organics), and yard trim.
Items such as scrap tires and white goods, electronics recycling, and scrap metal must be scheduled for pickup through PGC311.
Residents must adhere to their current HOA or civic association rules and regulations regarding trash and recycling in public areas.
Residents residing in a townhome community must place their standard bulky items or bags at the curb in front of their townhome (or their assigned parking space). Please ensure nothing is blocking the collection point at the curb in front of the townhome assigned parking space. Bulky items should not be placed in common areas. The hauler or County staff will not collect material from a common area or grounds.
County residents are encouraged to consider donating, recycling, or gifting any gently used bulky items that may benefit someone else before placing them at the curb. Whether it’s a gently used couch, table, or appliance, another family may use that item and keep it out of the County landfill. View some reuse/recycling alternatives here.
NOTE: Effective February 1, 2019, for the health and safety of staff, Prince George's County residents requesting curbside collection of bulky items will be required to completely cover mattresses and box springs in a protective plastic covering. Plastic zippered mattress covers are available at many local retail stores for a nominal fee.
Mattresses and box springs delivered to the Landfill by residents will not be required to be covered in the protective encasement.
*Due to excessive heat temperatures, a new adjusted waste collection start time will operate from July 15 through September 30. Residents are advised to have their carts at the curb by 5 a.m.*
