Summer Youth Enrichment Program

The Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) offers County youth and young adults ages 14 to 24 with enriching and constructive summer work experiences in community organizations, private sector companies, and government agencies.

We strive to provide young people with the opportunity to:

  • Learn new job skills while working
  • Experience professional development opportunities
  • Gain exposure to a diverse range of careers
  • Participate in job readiness training
  • Network with industry leaders
  • Build positive working relationships
  • Earn pay for meaningful and rewarding work experiences

This year's program runs from July 6 to August 14, 2026.

Get Prepared

Follow these steps to help you prepare for the application process and future job opportunities.

  • Set up a professional email address.
  • Gather your personal information (Social Security Number, Date of Birth, Home Address, Emergency Contact).
  • Open a bank account and organize your payment information.
  • Identify the types of jobs or career fields that interest you most.
  • Set up a professional voicemail greeting and ensure your phone can receive messages.
  • Create a resume that highlights your accomplishments.

How to Apply

Applications for summer job opportunities were accepted from March 1-March 31

Notice: Limited opportunities are available. Candidates are selected based on a random lottery system and not all who apply are able to be selected.

There are 6 steps to completing your application. View our 6 Steps Application Process (PDF) for more details on each step.

  1. Select the application based on your age as of July 6, 2026:
    1. Ages 14 & 15
    2. Ages 16 & 17
    3. Ages 18 - 24
  2. Create a NEOGOV username and password (How to Create a NEOGOV Account)
    1. Tip: document your username and password in a password keeper for future reference
  3. Complete each screen on the application in its entirety
  4. Certify your information is accurate and true to the best of your knowledge
  5. Submit your application by March 31, 2026, at 11:59 pm
  6. You will receive confirmation of your submitted application in your email 

Candidates between the ages of 18 -24 are encouraged to attach a resume and any relevant supporting documents (e.g., licenses, awards, certificates)

Selection Process

Eligible SYEP candidates will be entered into a random lottery to receive an offer for an employment assignment. Employment assignment offers will continue to be extended to randomly selected eligible youth until all positions are filled. A host site may request former participants who have demonstrated exemplary performance.
