Hired Youth Resources

Welcome to Hired Youth Resources! This is a central hub for all information and required steps for youth accepted into the SYEP program, including onboarding, key program updates, helpful resources, and guidance from acceptance through program completion.

How to Documents

To help youth complete the onboarding process, please review the resources below for guidance on accepting an offer and obtaining a work permit if required. These links provide step-by-step instructions and important information to ensure youth are prepared for employment and able to complete all necessary requirements before the program start date.

Completing the Form I-9

Form I-9 is a required employment verification form used to confirm your identity and authorization to work in the United States. All hired SYEP participants must complete the I-9 process before beginning work to ensure eligibility for paid program placement.

Online Verification:

Selected participants must complete the online Form I-9 step in onboarding before submitting documents in person. Please follow the instructions to complete the online portion before attending your in-person document verification appointment.

In-Person Verification:

Please review the list of Form I-9 Acceptable Documents and obtain the appropriate original, unexpired documents that establish identity and employment authorization in preparation for your in-person verification appointment.

Banking and Pay Documents

SYEP participants are strongly encouraged to enroll in direct deposit to receive compensation quickly and securely. During onboarding, participants will be asked to provide their bank's routing number, account number, and account type (checking or savings). Please ensure all banking information is accurate and that the account is in the participant's name.

Participants who do not provide valid direct deposit information may receive payment by paper check, which can take an additional 5–7 business days for processing and delivery.
