Prince George’s County Waste Collection Services May Experience Winter Weather Delays or Cancellations

Sustainable Waste Management Division Graphic highlight christmas tree composting program

LARGO, MD – With the threat of inclement weather forecast for the weekend, the Prince George's County Department of the Environment advises residents that all curbside bulky trash, regular trash, recycling, and food scraps and yard trim collections may be delayed or postponed due to weather- or road-related conditions beginning the week of January 26, 2026.

If collection services are postponed, every effort will be made to resume pickups in accordance with the County's inclement weather policy. Residents are reminded to leave collection containers at the curb, as pickups may occur anytime between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

In addition, all services at the County's waste collection facilities may experience service suspensions due to severe weather, including the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill, the Brown Station Road Public Dropoff Convenience Center, Materials Recycling Facility, the Prince George's County Organics Composting Facility, scrap tire and appliance disposal sites, and the Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center in Brandywine.

Residents are encouraged to visit mypgc.us for the latest service updates and alerts, and sign up for Alert Prince George's at alert.mypgc.us to receive weather and emergency notifications by text, phone, or email.

To report a missed collection, contact PGC311 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or submit a request online at PGC311.com.
