Prince George’s County Suspends Food Compost & Yard Trim Collection for Monday, January 26

Sustainable Waste Management Division Graphic highlight christmas tree composting program

LARGO, MD – Due to the impending hazardous weather forecast, the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment will suspend Monday's food scraps and yard trim collection scheduled for January 26, 2026. Per the County's inclement weather policy, collections are scheduled to resume the following Monday, on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Residents receiving this County-contracted waste collection service are advised not to place collection carts at the curb to allow snowplows to safely operate and clear roadways.

Additionally, residents who receive County-contracted curbside RECYCLING ONLY Monday collection, will also have those services canceled for this Monday, January 26. Collection services will resume on Monday, February 2. If you reside in a municipality or have a private waste contractor service, please contact their offices for guidance on winter weather collection.

Residents are encouraged to visit mypgc.us for the latest winter weather service updates and alerts, and to sign up for Alert Prince George’s at alert.mypgc.us to receive weather and emergency notifications by text, phone, or email.
