Prince George’s County Resumes Waste and Recycling Collection Services, Thursday, January 29, 2026
LARGO, MD – As Prince George's County prepares to resume waste and recycling collection services on Thursday, January 29, residents are advised that the County will operate on a two-day slide schedule for the remainder of the week.
Two-day Slide Schedule
- Regularly scheduled Tuesday collections move to Thursday, Jan. 29
- Regularly scheduled Wednesday collections move to Friday, Jan. 30
- Regularly scheduled Thursday collections move to Saturday, Jan. 31
Residents who receive County-contracted waste and recycling collection service are advised if their curb is not clear of ice and snow, they may place their carts and bulky items at the nearest cleared curb on their street or end of their street for collection crews to safely and efficiently collect materials.
Other collection tips include:
- Please ensure carts/bulky items are not sticking or placed out into the street.
- Bag loose items in trash carts to keep items from blowing away.
- Keep snow and ice out of carts—wet materials can freeze, may not empty properly, and can be heavy-lifting for crews and haulers.
- Break down cardboard and keep it dry when possible.
If you reside in a municipality or receive service from private waste haulers, you should contact your respective offices directly for guidance on winter weather collection tips and schedules.
Please note: Once waste collections resume, the schedule is subject to change, and collections may be delayed or suspended in specific areas of the County due to road or weather conditions to protect the safety of residents and crews. The County appreciates residents' understanding and patience during these circumstances.
Residents are encouraged to visit mypgc.us for the latest service updates and alerts, and sign up for Alert Prince George's at alert.mypgc.us to receive weather and emergency notifications by text, phone, or email.
