Prince George's County Department of the Environment Announces Early Closure of Waste Facilities Due to Extreme Heat
LARGO, MD – Due to forecasted extreme heat conditions and to protect the health and safety of employees and residents, the Prince George's County Department of the Environment (DoE) will close the following facilities at 2:00 p.m. today, Friday, July 3:
- Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center
- Brown Station Road Convenience Drop-off Center
- Missouri Avenue Convenience Drop-off Center
All three facilities are scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 6, during their regular operating hours.
The Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will continue operating as scheduled unless otherwise announced.
The Department appreciates residents' understanding as these temporary operational changes help ensure the safety of staff working outdoors during periods of dangerously high temperatures.
Residents are encouraged to plan visits accordingly and, whenever possible, avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
