Prince George’s County’s Household Hazardous Waste Site and Associated Lots to Temporarily Close on April 15
Closure is due to ongoing construction at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill
Largo, MD—Effective April 15, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Site located in Lot 4 at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill, 11611 White House Road in Upper Marlboro, will temporarily close to the public until further notice due to ongoing construction at the landfill. Construction is expected to continue until late summer.
In addition to the HHW site, scrap metal drop-off, white goods/appliances drop-off, electronic waste drop-off, and cooking oil disposal will also be suspended at the Associated Landfill Lots. These items can be temporarily taken to the Brown Station Road Convenience Center for proper disposal.
The HHW site is free to County residents and accepts household hazardous waste that should not be put into regular trash. Some of these items include, but are not limited to:
- Acid Car Batteries
- Automotive Fluids and Fuels
- Cleaning Agents
- Cooking Oil
- Cell Phones
- Smoke Detectors
- Gas Grill Propane Tanks
- Helium Balloon Tanks
- Household Batteries
- Keyboards/Laptop Computers
- Insecticides, Herbicides, and Fertilizers
- Solvents, Varnishes, and Stains
During the closure, residents can dispose of these items at two mobile HHW and Electronics Recycling events:

Saturday, May 4 Surrattsville High School |
