Pet Foster Information

The Animal Services Division (ASD) Foster Program helps meet the needs of animals that are too young or immature for adoption, injured or recovering from surgery, require special care due to illness or pregnancy, or are just in need of a second chance! For anyone who may not be able to commit to owning a pet for 10 - 15 years, fostering allows you to care for an animal on a short-term basis.

Why Be A Pet Foster Parent?

  • Provide companionship, a sense of purpose and fulfillment, and fun!
  • Create space in the shelter to accommodate other animals in need
  • Help save an animal's life!

How Can I Become a Foster Caregiver?

  1. Complete, sign, and return the Pet Foster Care Application and Agreement (either in-person or electronically via email).
  2. Staff will review your application and send online orientation information.
  3. Be prepared with animals you're interested in fostering within 72 hours of passing the orientation.

Available animals at our facility can be viewed online at 24petconnect.com/PGEOADOPT.

When you take home an animal, you and members of your household must follow the ASD policies and procedures as outlined in the signed application. Foster animals cannot be released to anyone without the express consent and approval of the ASD.
