Prevailing Construction Wage Rates

Prevailing Wage Survey

**Surveys must be completed, at the above link, no later than July 31, 2023, to be used in the computation of the prevailing wage rates scheduled to become effective around December. Surveys will not be accepted by email or postal mail.

Mission

The mission of the Wage Determination Board is to adopt, establish, repeal, modify, change or amend schedules of prevailing hourly rates of wages to be paid to workmen and apprentices employed on certain public works.

Duties

The functions and duties include:
  • Authorizing the board to promulgate rules and regulations
  • Determining the method of wage rates
  • Making final determination with regard to restriction and liquidated damages for violations of certain provisions

Responsibilities

The Wage Determination Board, mandated under Section 1009 of the Charter, holds hearings and conducts studies to ensure that:

Laborer (Skilled) may operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments; may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials. Laborer - a worker who primarily assists a particular craft worker and does not operate hand or power tools.

Contract Compliance Officers

The Board, through its Contract Compliance Officers, conducts on-site inspections of County construction projects and interviews workers on those projects in order to monitor contractor compliance with the prevailing wage law. The current prevailing wage rates are effective January 3,2023.

Wage Requirements for Service Contracts (Livable Wage)

Service contracts are subject to the County’s Wage requirements law for service contracts under Subtitle 10A-144 of the Prince George’s County Code. A County contract for the procurement of services must require the Contractor and any of its subcontractors to comply with the wage requirements of this section, subject to exceptions from coverage for particular contractors in accordance with County Code Section 10A-144(b) and for particular employees in accordance with Section 10A-144(f). Wage Rate Effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 is $16.60 Per Hour

 Wage Rate Effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 is $15.60 Per Hour
