Agricultural Land

The Agricultural Land Preservation Tax Credit encourages the long-term preservation of farmland in Prince George's County by reducing property taxes on land permanently protected for agricultural use.

The credit is available to qualifying properties that participate in an approved agricultural land preservation program.

Credit Amount

The credit is equal to 100% of the County real property tax imposed on eligible agricultural property.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Agricultural Land Preservation Tax Credit, the property must:

• Be enrolled in an approved Maryland State or Prince George's County Agricultural Land Preservation Program.
• Continue to comply with all requirements of the applicable preservation program.

Eligible Properties

The credit applies to real property participating in a qualifying agricultural land preservation program.

How to Apply

To apply for the Agricultural Land Preservation Tax Credit:

1. Complete the application provided by the Director of Finance.
2. Submit the completed application each year.
3. Provide proof that the property is enrolled in a qualifying agricultural land preservation program.
4. Submit any additional documentation requested by the Director of Finance.

Required Documentation

Applications must include:

• Proof of participation in an approved Maryland State or Prince George's County agricultural land preservation program.
• Any additional information requested by the Director of Finance to verify eligibility.

Important Information

• The credit must be renewed annually.
• The property must remain enrolled in an approved agricultural land preservation program to continue receiving the credit.
• Failure to submit the annual application and supporting documentation may result in the loss of the credit.
