Nonprofit Swim Clubs

The Nonprofit Swim Clubs Property Tax Credit provides eligible nonprofit swim clubs with a County property tax credit to help support recreational facilities that serve local communities.

The credit applies to nonprofit swim clubs that use their facilities exclusively to provide a recreational outlet for the surrounding community.

Credit Amount

Eligible nonprofit swim clubs may receive a credit equal to 100% of the Prince George's County portion of the real property tax imposed on the qualifying property.

Credit Duration

The credit is available on an annual basis. Eligible organizations must apply each year to continue receiving the credit.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Nonprofit Swim Clubs Property Tax Credit, all of the following requirements must be met:

  • The property must be owned by a nonprofit swim club.
  • The swim club must use its facilities exclusively to provide a recreational outlet for the surrounding community.
  • A completed application must be submitted to the Office of Finance, Treasury Division, by the required deadline.

Eligible Properties

The credit applies to real property owned by a qualifying nonprofit swim club that is used exclusively for community recreational purposes.

How to Apply

To apply for the Nonprofit Swim Clubs Property Tax Credit:

  1. Complete the Property Tax Credit application.
  2. Submit the completed application to the Office of Finance, Treasury Division.
  3. Include a current Prince George's County Health Department Permit to Operate a Public Swimming Pool/Spa.
  4. Submit any additional information or documentation requested by the Director of Finance.
  5. File the application by April 1 prior to the tax year for which the credit is requested.

Appeals

If an application is denied, the property owner may appeal the decision to the Maryland Tax Court. The appeal must be filed within 30 days after the Director of Finance mails the notice of determination.
