How will I know if I’ve been selected for the waitlist?
Applicants that were randomly selected through the lottery will be notified by the email that was used to apply for the waitlist and the mailing address that was used to apply for the 2025 Waitlist Opening once the lottery is complete. Be sure to check both.
How long will it take to be notified?
Notifications are typically sent through email and/or mail at least 45 days after the waitlist closes. Please allow our staff time for processing and DO NOT CONTACT HAPGC FOR STATUS UPDATES.
How can I check my status?
You are encouraged to log into the Applicant Portal to check your status. Please allow our staff time for processing and DO NOT CONTACT HAPGC FOR STATUS UPDATES.
What happens if I’m selected?
If selected by the lottery process for placement onto the waitlist, you will receive instructions on how to complete eligibility verification and provide required documentation.
What if my contact information changes?
Only applicants who are selected to be placed on the waitlist need to notify HAPGC in writing to any changes to your address, phone number, or email. Changes must be sent in writing to hcvwaitlist@co.pg.md.us or through the Applicant Portal. Failure to do so may result in removal from the waitlist.
Why did I receive a letter for Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) Program Verification?
You received an Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) Program Verification letter because while submitting an application during the waiting list opening in December 2025, you identified yourself as a current participant in the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) Program. EHV Program participants that submitted an application were exempt from the general lottery selection process. This distinction allowed for placement on the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) waiting list with the highest preference ranking. Accordingly, you must provide verification of current EHV Program participation to remain on the HCVP waiting list.
What should I do if I received an Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) Program Verification letter?
Please submit a letter or other official documentation from your current public housing authority confirming EHV participation by the required date on the letter. The documentation must include the PHA code, contact person’s name, and contact person’s phone and email address for verification purposes.
Failure to provide credible and verifiable documentation by the deadline will result in your name being removed from the waiting list.
Be advised documents may be received via email at hcvwaitlist@co.pg.md.us. (Documentation must be in PDF format; pictures or images of documents will not be accepted). Documents may be mailed:
Housing Authority of Prince George’s County
