Public Housing
The Public Housing Program provides safe, decent, and affordable rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Assistance is tied directly to properties owned and managed by the Housing Authority of Prince George's County (HAPGC). Eligible families will pay approximately 30% of their adjusted monthly income toward rent.
Waiting List Information
The Housing Authority of Prince George’s County (HAPGC) will accept online preliminary applications for its Low-Income Public Housing Program Waiting List beginning on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 12:01 AM EST. and will close on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. Applications will ONLY be accepted electronically. Physical paper applications will not be issued or processed at the HAPGC main office.
How To Apply
All applications must be submitted via the internet using any computer, tablet, or smartphone. Application link will be available on this webpage on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 12:01 AM EST.
There is no fee to apply.
Selection Methodology & Lottery Cap
Submission of a preliminary application does not guarantee placement on the waiting list. To ensure equity and manage the extensive demand, HAPGC will utilize a Random Lottery System.
A total of 4,000 applicants will be randomly selected from all valid submissions received during the open window. Bedroom size is determined by your household composition.

HAPGC use the established local preferences for admission to the public housing program.
