Housing Choice Voucher Program

Waiting List Opening

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waitlist will open for new preliminary applications beginning on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. and will close on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

About the Program

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP), also referred to as “Section 8”, is a “tenant-based” voucher program that provides tenants the opportunity to live where they choose. The Housing Authority of Prince George's County (HAPGC) pays the owner the difference between 30% of adjusted family income and a PHA-determined payment standard or the gross rent for the unit, whichever is lower. The family may choose a unit with a higher rent than the payment standard and pay the owner the difference not to exceed 40% of adjusted family income. All rents are subject to a comparability study of similar unassisted properties in the immediate area. Learn more about the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
