The Prince George’s County Department of Social Services is committed to protecting the safety and dignity of all children living in the County. You are invited to wear blue on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to show your support and raise awareness for child abuse prevention in Prince George’s County. April is annually, nationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This Wednesday, you have the opportunity to participate in this movement by wearing blue, walking, and starting awareness conversations with coworkers, friends, family, and neighbors.

The Prince George’s County Child Advocacy Center gives children an opportunity to recount abuse they may have faced, in a child-friendly environment. The CAC collaborates with agency partners to ensure this critical information is shared appropriately and timely, only requiring a one-time recounting, rather than multiple retellings of an already difficult experience. In doing this, we all work together to find out what happened to the child, to hold the offender accountable, and to help families begin their healing journeys.

According to the Prevent Child Abuse America organization, “April is Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month, a time for communities nationwide to come together and take action to support strong families, thriving children, and healthier communities…Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we can work together to prevent child abuse before it ever happens.”
