Prince George's County's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program strives to keep bicyclists and pedestrians safe by educating them, along with drivers, on the rules of the road.

The program holds several outreach events a year, including DPW&T Street Teams that canvass high-crash areas in the County promoting bicycle and pedestrian safety.

A few past DPW&T Street Team locations have included: Indian Head Highway (MD-210), Annapolis Road (MD-450), Kenilworth Avenue (MD-201), and Baltimore Avenue (US-1).

On Monday, April 23, 2018, from 4pm-7pm, the regional public safety campaign Street Smart (with whom the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program partners) will have a Street Team on           Queens Chapel Road (MD-500) near the West Hyattsville Metro Station. Team members will pass out safety literature for bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers. Street Smart will hold another education event on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 2pm-5pm. The location of that event has not been determined.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Program also visits elementary schools, in Prince George's County, to participate in 'Look Up! Look Out!' safety presentations. In 2017, the program visited a dozen schools.

Throughout spring 2018, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is scheduled to give 'Look Up! Look Out!' presentations at the following Prince George's County schools:
