Major Crimes Unit

Overview

The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is responsible for prosecuting serious violent felonies, including attempted murder, aggravated assaults, carjackings, robberies, burglaries, and motor vehicle offenses.

The unit also handles cases involving familial violence that do not involve minors.

Community-Based Prosecution

The MCU includes three community prosecutors who work closely with Prince George’s County Police Department districts to address local public safety concerns. These prosecutors collaborate with law enforcement to prosecute cases arising within their assigned districts and respond to community-specific needs.

The unit is staffed by a team of prosecutors and support personnel dedicated to advancing effective, community-focused prosecution strategies.
