About Us

The Office of the State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is tasked with safeguarding the rights and interests of the approximately one million residents of Prince George's County. The Office of the State's Attorney is comprised of several divisions, each handling various aspects of criminal law. To assist the State's Attorney, a team of attorneys, prosecutors, investigators, agents, and support staff operate throughout Prince George's County.

State's Attorney Tara Jackson

Tara H. Jackson has been appointed State's Attorney, succeeding Aisha Braveboy, who has transitioned to the role of County Executive for Prince George's County. This transition represents a significant moment in local governance as Ms. Jackson begins her new role. As the Interim State's Attorney, Ms. Jackson brings a commitment to fairness, transparency, and community-centered justice.
