State's Attorney Releases 2025 End of Year Report Highlighting Early Progress and 2026 Partnerships

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George's County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson has released the Office of the State’s Attorney’s 2025 End of Year Report, highlighting the work accomplished during the first six months of her administration and outlining key public safety initiatives and operational priorities for this year. 
 
“This report reflects my Office’s continued commitment to delivering justice with integrity transparency, and fairness, during our first six months, we took meaningful steps to strengthen public safety, enhance accountability, build community trust, and implement smarter prosecution strategies that make our neighborhoods safer. This progress sets the tone for the work ahead. Our goal is to continue building an office that is data-driven, community-informed, and committed to protecting the residents of Prince George’s County.” - State's Attorney Tara H. The 2025 End of Year Report reflects the Office’s commitment to strengthening public safety through collaboration, accountability, and innovative prosecution strategies that prioritize both enforcement and prevention. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the Office’s work, including State’s Attorney Jackson’s key priorities, diversion and prevention efforts, community engagement initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and accountability, and information surrounding the juvenile justice system. The report highlights key accomplishments including: 
 

Justice Data Dashboard

The Office's first-ever data dashboard designed to make key prosecutorial data accessible, clear, and easy to explore. Residents will be able to view case outcomes at-a-glance and strengthens the Office’s commitment to transparency. The dashboard reflects data from 2025, and focuses on several key priority areas, including homicides, abuse of a minor cases, motor vehicle manslaughter, and juvenile cases. It will be updated annually, with the goal of expanding the data and enhancing its functionality.

Key Highlights

Expanded Community Engagement: participated in more than 125 meetings, town halls, and other events across the County to ensure community members are heard and their input is reflected in public safety policies and strategies. 
 
Largest Back on Track Program Graduation: celebrated16 graduates from the Back on Track program, the largest graduating class in the program’s history.  
 
In addition, the Office of the State’s Attorney is announcing several key operational changes, initiatives, and partnerships, including:  
 
Reengage, Intervention, Support, and Empowerment (R.I.S.E.) Initiative: launching this year, R.I.S.E. will focus on truancy prevention and reducing chronic absenteeism among at-risk youth. 
 
Implementation of a Conviction Integrity Referral Program: created a formal referral process for claims of actual innocence where eligible cases undergo independent screening and investigation by subject matter experts to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in post-conviction review. 
 
Special Prosecutor Assignment: appointed of a Special Prosecutor who reports directly to the State’s Attorney to focus on addressing string and crew-related crimes occurring in Prince George’s County.  
 
Coordination between the Strategic Investigations Unit and the Prince George’s County Police Department: enhanced collaboration and support to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Gun Intelligence Unit. Designated Assistant State’s Attorneys are assigned to these investigations to ensure rapid execution of search warrants, review of charging documents, timely collection of discovery, and legal guidance from the start of the investigation to conviction.
