State's Attorney Announces Conviction Related to November 2024 Suitland Murder
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced today that 31-year-old Francis Xavier Holmes Jr. has been convicted of first-degree murder, use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, and illegal possession after a disqualifying conviction related to the death of 30-year-old Brian Michael Speaks. Holmes was convicted following a second trial after the initial proceedings concluded in a mistrial.
In November 2024, Holmes shot and killed Speaks in the hallway of his apartment building in Suitland. Holmes faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
