State’s Attorney Announces Conviction of Man Accused in 2019 District Heights Murder

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced today that 28-year-old Raymond Thompson has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 34-year-old Edrian Hernandez. Thompson was convicted on all counts charged, including first-degree murder, use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime, and wear and carry of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure. 

On November 7, 2019, Thompson fatally shot Hernandez in his car in District Heights. He faces a maximum of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is scheduled for November 20, 2025. 

“This case is a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence in our community,” said Interim State’s Attorney Jackson. “No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one in this way. Our office is working tirelessly to address gun violence in our communities, especially those committed by repeat offenders, and to hold offenders fully accountable for their actions. We are grateful to our prosecutors and law enforcement partners for their tireless work in securing this conviction, and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family as they continue to navigate this unimaginable loss.”
