State's Attorney Announces Conviction of Hairdresser who Assaulted Teenage Girl over Payment Dispute

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara H. Jackson announced today that 19-year-old Jayla A. Cunningham has been convicted of second-degree assault. 
 
In March 2025, Cunningham got into a dispute with a 15-year-old client over payment where she physically assaulted the teenager at her salon. Second-degree assault charges carry a maximum of 10 years in prison.  
 
Cunningham’s sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2026.
