Interim State’s Attorney Announces Conviction of Bladensburg Man Accused in the Murder of His Mother

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County Interim State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced today that 52-year-old Reginald English was convicted of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his mother, 72-year-old Lorena Royster.

“This verdict reaffirms our commitment to seeking justice for victims and holding people accountable for their actions," says State’s Attorney Jackson. "Crimes that occur within families are especially troubling and difficult to understand. We hope that this conviction will bring a measure of peace to Ms. Royster’s family and loved ones who have suffered because of this tragedy. We would like to thank our attorneys and law enforcement partners for their tireless efforts in prosecuting this case and bringing justice to this family.”

On April 3, 2024, English handcuffed and fatally assaulted his mother in their Bladensburg home. He faces a maximum of life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for November 12, 2025.
