First Time Home Buyers Assistance Programs

The Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is committed to expanding homeownership opportunities and helping more residents build generational wealth through affordable homeownership. Beginning July 1, 2026, DHCD will offer three homebuyer assistance programs designed to reduce one of the greatest barriers to purchasing a home—the upfront costs associated with down payments and closing costs. These programs provide financial assistance through low- or no-interest loans, helping eligible homebuyers achieve the dream of homeownership while investing in Prince George’s County communities.

Whether you are a first-time homebuyer, a public servant seeking to live in the community you serve, or a moderate-income household looking to establish roots in the County, DHCD has a program that may help make homeownership possible.

Please Note: Potential homebuyers must use an approved lender to apply for any one of the three homebuyer assistance programs. Homebuyers cannot apply for the programs directly.
