Affordable Housing

“Prince George’s County is committed to preserving housing affordability and we are working hard to diversify the County’s housing stock. We cannot have quality economic development without affordable housing.  Our key economic development goals for growing jobs and the commercial tax base must be anchored by infrastructure that serves a range of household incomes, especially around transit-oriented development opportunities. Our community is growing, and it is up to us to make the right choices now.”
Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks

The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has several options to review affordable housing in the County.

Affordable Housing Portfolio

Review affordable housing developments for families and seniors. The Affordable Housing Portfolio provides a comprehensive look at the housing developments in Prince George's County that have been awarded gap financing from HOME, the Housing Investment Trust Fund (HITF), the Right of First Refusal (ROFR) Preservation Loan Fund, or where the County's Right of First Refusal has been exercised on a property to maintain its affordability.

DHCD does not lease, own, or sell affordable housing. We provide financing for new construction and the preservation of affordable housing. In addition to the listings in the Portfolio, to search for affordable housing throughout the county and state, visit MDHousingSearch.org

Inventory Map

DHCD compiled a list of the affordable housing inventory in Prince George's County.  The inventory map of shows affordable rent-restricted housing. Each red dot marks the site of a rent-restricted affordable housing project – the different Council districts are also labeled. Clicking on each dot allows you to see information including the project’s name, the number of affordable/total units, and the anticipated date of affordability expiration.

Special thanks to our Information Technology's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team for the creation of the map.
