The Bureau of Homeland Security and Intelligence (BOHSI) within the Prince George's County Police Department serves as the command hub for the agency's most advanced and specialized public safety operations. It brings together intelligence gathering, threat analysis, and coordinated response efforts to help identify emerging risks early and mitigate them before they escalate. When major incidents do occur, the bureau provides strategic and operational support to ensure a rapid and effective response.
BOHSI oversees the following critical divisions:
The Homeland Security Division investigates individuals and groups that threaten the security of Prince George's County and its infrastructure. The division encompasses the Homeland Security Intelligence Unit, the Joint Agency Group and Special Entertainment Permits Unit, the Arson Task Force, the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center, and INTERPOL.
The Special Operations Division consists of the Aviation Section, Canine Section, Emergency Services Team, Motors Unit, Traffic Enforcement Unit, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, Marine Unit, National Harbor Unit, Special Services Section, and Crossing Guard Unit.
Information Technology Division
The Information Technology Division's (ITD) mission is to serve as the Department's primary oversight and management authority for all technology-related issues. ITD coordinates and supports all phases of planning, assessing, selecting, implementing, and integrating technology utilized by the Department. This includes managing employee network access and system accounts.
