Overview
Our innovative 13-week program offers participants a unique experience through lectures, open discussions, and interactive activities about our polices, training, patrol procedures, investigations, and overview of our criminal justice partners.

The Mission
The mission of our Citizens Police Academy is to improve understanding, communication, and who are better informed about police work and our services.

Who may participate in the Academy?

  • Citizens 18-years of age or older
  • Citizens with no prior felony convictions

When is the Academy Held?
Each session meets every Monday for 13-weeks, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

What is the cost?
Free! The only cost to participants is your time.

Course Curriculum

The curriculum and teaching methods are similar to those used in our police training academy.  Each week participants will have qualified instructors teach various areas in the field of criminal justice.

  • Crime Prevention
  • Major Crimes
  • Use of Deadly & Non-Lethal Force
  • Stress Management
  • Overview of the Police Department
