Homeless Prevention Program

The Homeless Prevention Program assists residents at imminent risk of homelessness by stabilizing their housing situation before a crisis occurs. Supports may include short-term rental assistance, mediation with landlords, case management, and referrals to community resources. The program focuses on maintaining housing, preventing eviction, and ensuring long-term stability for vulnerable households.

Street Outreach Program

The Street Outreach Program engages individuals and families experiencing unsheltered homelessness by meeting them where they are—encampments, public spaces, and community locations. Outreach teams provide wellness checks, basic supplies, transportation to shelter, and connections to housing programs, behavioral health services, and benefits. The goal is to build trust, reduce barriers, and help residents transition from unsheltered homelessness to safe and stable housing.

Youth Homeless Demonstration Program

The Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) is an initiative designed to reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness. The goal of the YHDP is to support selected communities, including rural, suburban, and urban areas across the United States, in the development and implementation of a coordinated community approach to preventing and ending youth homelessness. Prince George’s County was selected as a YHDP site in the 2018 competition.

HUD announced the Youth Homelessness NOFO on June 10, 2026, which consolidates FY 2024 and FY 2025 funding for both the Youth Homelessness Systems Improvement (YHSI) grants and the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). The application deadline for the NOFO (including YHDP Priority Listing and project applications) is August 10, 2026. For additional information, please visit the HUD Community Youth page.

FY 2025 CoC Program Notice

On December 8, 2025, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that it has withdrawn the FY 2025 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). According to HUD, this withdrawal will allow the Department to revise the NOFO, and HUD anticipates reissuing a modified NOFO well in advance of the FY 2025 funds obligation deadline.
