The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) hosted the annual "Stuff TheBus" Back to School Supply Drive from July 18, 2023, through August 18, 2023.

The Stuff TheBus Supply Drive provided an opportunity for the County and its various partners to assist students in preparing for the academic year with brand new bookbags and essential classroom supplies.

Since 2018, DPW&T has received significant donations from County government agencies, County staff, the Prince George's County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the General Members of Prince George’s County, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, the Prince George’s County Association of Realtors, and the Prince George's County Community Partners to assist with this effort. Last year, the drive and distribution (2022) garnered over 900 backpacks, tote bags, and 49,000 various school supply items. This year (2023) we collected over 1,200 backpacks and 25,000 various other school supply items.

"The Stuff TheBus Back to School Supply Drive is one of our main events of the year. We are Prince George's Proud to provide families with opportunities to receive backpacks and school supplies during these financially challenging times," said DPW&T's Director Michael D. Johnson.

Prince George's County Schools 2023-2024 academic year starts August 28, 2023. We are Prince George’s Proud to have had another successful drive and to be given the opportunity to prepare our youngest and brightest scholars for a strong start to their school year.
