Prince George’s County District 6 Welcomes New Organic Market to Westphalia Community
WESTPHAILA, MD — Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy celebrates the announcement that Sprouts Market, a specialty retailer focused on natural and organic foods, will anchor the retail portion of Westphalia Towne Center, marking another significant milestone in the County’s continued economic growth and community development efforts.
“This is an exciting investment in the future of Prince George’s County,” said County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy. “Our residents have made it clear they want more access to high-quality grocery and retail options in their own communities. The arrival of Sprouts Market helps meet that demand while creating jobs, expanding opportunity, and continuing the momentum we are building to elevate the County.”
Braveboy noted that the project reflects the County’s broader commitment to attracting transformative developments that improve the quality of life for residents.
“Westphalia Towne Centre continues to elevate into a vibrant, community-centered destination where families can live, shop, dine, and thrive,” Braveboy added. “This announcement is another example of the confidence that leading retailers and developers have in Prince George’s County and its future.”
The approximately 23,000-square-foot grocery retailer is expected to serve as a major destination for residents seeking fresh, healthy, and high-quality food options closer to home. Westphalia Towne Centre is being developed by Walton Global, with Heritage Partners managing leasing for the property.
Current At-Large Councilmember and former District 6 Councilwoman Wala Blegay said, “I have fought alongside the Westphalia community to ensure that the promises made to residents were kept.”
She added, “Westphalia, like every community in Prince George’s County, deserves access to quality retail. Sprouts Market represents the type of grocer the community demanded, and I am confident its arrival in Westphalia will attract more upscale retail, restaurants, and commercial investment to the community.”
Current District 6 Councilmember Danielle Hunter also welcomed the announcement as a meaningful investment in community wellness and long-term growth.
“Access to fresh, high-quality food is about more than convenience — it is about health, dignity, and opportunity,” said District 6 Councilmember Danielle Hunter. “The arrival of Sprouts Market in the Westphalia community represents a meaningful investment in our families and in the future of District 6. When we talk about healthier communities, we must recognize that food is medicine.”
Hunter continued, “Families deserve access to nutritious options close to home, and this project brings us one step closer to creating neighborhoods where wellness is within reach. This is what ‘Succeeding in Six’ looks like — thoughtful growth that responds to the real needs of our residents and strengthens quality of life for every generation.”
Located along the Route 4 corridor, Westphalia Towne Centre is one of Prince George’s County’s premier mixed-use developments and is designed to create a walkable environment featuring retail, residential, and lifestyle amenities.
