Prince George’s County Department of Social Services Opens Two New Permanent Food Pantries to Create Additional Food Insecurity Relief Access Points
LARGO, MD – On Monday, November 3, 2025, the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services (PGCDSS) opened two additional food pantry locations at its north and south County service centers, in addition to its location in Landover. The new centers are a response to the needs of residents who have experienced a service disruption of SNAP and WIC food benefits as a result of the ongoing federal government shutdown. No registration is required to receive food from these food pantries. Food is available to all County residents, and walk-ups are welcome.
County Executive Aisha Braveboy said, “Expanding access to food for Prince Georgians in these critical times is key. This generous donation that coincided with the opening of two new food pantries at Department of Social Services locations is amazing at this time. We are grateful for the donation, for those who helped to get it to all our pantries where we serve residents.”
The following service centers will now have permanent food pantries to further serve Prince Georgians, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.:
North County — New!
- 6505 Belcrest Road, Hyattsville, MD 20782
Central County
- 425 Brightseat Road, Landover, MD 20785
South County — New!
- 4235 28th Avenue, Temple Hills, MD 20748
In a partnership with the Office of the County Executive, PGCDSS received a generous 12,500-lb food donation from So What Else Inc. (SWE), a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and MBB Delivery, LLC, a Maryland-based delivery business, which delivered the food to the three Social Services food pantries in north, central, and south County. PGCDSS has also received a discounted delivery of drumsticks from Food 4 Maryland, another Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support these three food pantries.
The long-standing central County food pantry in Landover routinely sees around 300 residents a day, and Social Services expects to serve an additional 300 residents a day between the two new food pantry locations.
“We are excited about elevating Prince George’s County and increasing food access across the County,” said Acting Prince George’s County Department of Social Services Director Erica Turner. “We are grateful to the team at MBB Delivery and to So What Else Inc.”
