Maryland‑National Capital Park and Planning Commission – Planning Board

The Office of the County Executive for Prince George’s County is currently accepting letters of interest and resumes from qualified individuals seeking appointment to the Prince George’s County Planning Board of The Maryland‑National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M‑NCPPC).

The Prince George’s County Planning Board provides oversight of land use planning, growth management, parks, recreation, and development review throughout Prince George’s County. The Board plays a central role in shaping the County’s physical development by reviewing planning and development proposals, adopting land use recommendations, overseeing the work of the Planning Department and Department of Parks and Recreation, and advising the County Council on matters affecting the County’s future growth and development.

Who Should Apply

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated leadership and professional expertise, including individuals with backgrounds in:

  • Land use planning, urban planning, or community development
  • Architecture, engineering, or environmental planning
  • Real estate, economic development, or construction
  • Public administration, government, or public policy
  • Law, finance, or business leadership
  • Parks, recreation, conservation, or natural resource management
  • Community engagement, civic leadership, or neighborhood advocacy

Appointment Details

Members are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council.

The candidate selected by the County Executive will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through June 15, 2027, and may be reappointed pending eligibility.

Committee Responsibilities

Members of the Planning Board are responsible for:

  • Supervising the preparation of land use plans and comprehensive zoning maps
  • Reviewing and approving certain development applications, including site plans and subdivisions
  • Advising the County Council on zoning map amendments, special exceptions, and land use matters
  • Administering subdivision regulations and development review processes
  • Providing oversight of the Prince George’s County Planning Department and Department of Parks and Recreation
  • Establishing policies that guide planning, growth, preservation, and recreation throughout Prince George’s County
