Health and Human Services (HHS) Building Reopened following Burst Pipe in Building

New Health and Human Services Building

Update

REOPENED: The new Health and Human Services (HHS) Building reopened to the public on December 16, 2025. Pipe repairs and building inspections have been completed successfully.

On Monday, December 15, 2025, a pipe burst in the new Health and Human Services (HHS) Building at 9187 Central Avenue, Capitol Heights, MD 20743, and has caused building flooding. The Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department (PGFD) responded quickly, shutting off the building’s water, and evacuating staff.

The HHS Building currently houses Prince George's County’s Department of Family Services (DFS), Health Department (PGCHD), and a M-NCPPC senior activity center. Building staff have been directed to telework for the remainder of the day and until the building is safely reopened to the public. County Leadership are monitoring this closely. A public notice will be shared when the building will be reopened to the public.

Many HHS services remain available virtually and over the phone Monday - Friday between 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
