County Executive, Council, State, Federal Partners Stand Together
Prince George’s County, MD – County Executive Aisha Braveboy said that with the potential of a Federal Government shutdown looming over the country, she has authorized county agencies to identify resources to support Prince George’s County residents who may be affected by a shutdown.
“We can’t know what the future holds in Congress, but we can identify both government and community resources and be at the ready to meet the needs of the people of Prince George’s County. We’re working with our County and State Legislature, with the Governor’s Office and with our federal delegation to protect Prince Georgians in the event of a shutdown.”
“Prince George’s County has already faced unprecedented challenges under the Trump administration, and the last thing we need is further uncertainty regarding federal jobs and support,” said County Council Chair Edward Burroughs. “I want to assure Prince Georgians that if the federal government shuts down, the County government will remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring residents have the services and resources they depend on. The County Council stands united with County Executive Braveboy as well as Maryland state and federal leaders as we navigate these challenging times.”
Braveboy said, the county is identifying specific areas where residents may be affected immediately by a shutdown, such as in health care services, food insecurity, energy assistance, disability and emergency services.
