Largo, MD — Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy joined the United Golfers Association (UGA) last weekend for the welcome reception of the Inaugural Sapphire Golf Tour, where County Executive Braveboy announced the County’s “Project Elevate Sponsorship” of the Inaugural Tournament. The professional golf tour competition takes place Tuesday, August 26-27 at The Country Club at Woodmore.

The Sapphire Golf Tour is a new professional tour series launched by the United Golf Association (UGA) that is designed to elevate Black women in competitive golf. The tour is backed by the UGA’s 100-year legacy of advocacy and advancement with the goal of providing a national platform for professional tour players and collegiate players that includes special exemptions for juniors to compete, earn, and gain visibility as they work toward LPGA and international tour status.

“This is a tremendous new tour, and we’re delighted to provide Project Elevate sponsorship, making Prince George’s County and The Country Club at Woodmore a part of this new chapter in golf history. I hope residents will take the opportunity to get a spectator pass to go and see these young women compete at the highest level,” said Braveboy.

The inaugural professional tour competition takes place at the Country Club at Woodmore Tuesday, August 26th, through Wednesday, August 27th.
