County Executive Alsobrooks Announces New Grant Funding to Continue Innovative Stand Up & Deliver Program

Prince George's County News Release

LARGO, MD – Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks announced today new grant funding that is available for local nonprofits to continue the work of the County Executive’s innovative Stand Up & Deliver program, which helps address food insecurity in Prince George’s County. Up to $500,000 in funding is available to nonprofits to manage the new Stand Up & Deliver Extended (SUDX) program.

“We are proud to offer new grant funding so a local nonprofit can continue the work of our Stand Up & Deliver program, which helped so many families get through some of the toughest days of the pandemic,” said Alsobrooks. “Food insecurity remains an issue in Prince George’s, and this funding will help provide fresh groceries and prepared meals to some of our most vulnerable residents. We encourage local nonprofits to apply for this grant opportunity and help us continue serving Prince Georgians.”

The new SUDX program will address food insecurity through the engagement of nonprofit organizations and local grocers to provide perishable and non-perishable food. Additionally, other food purveyors will be engaged to provide prepared meals including restaurants, caterers, and bakers. The procured food and meals will be distributed through pop-up sites in low-moderate-income areas (LMA) that have been impacted and/or are recovering from the pandemic, as defined by HUD Qualified Census Tracts (QCT).

The contract term for the grant is January through December 2024. All applications from local nonprofits must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2023. In addition, nonprofits must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:

The SUDX program allows local nonprofits to manage the program moving forward to continue addressing food insecurity in the County.
