Prince George’s County is seeking qualified applicants to serve on the Board of Education following the resignation of District 2 member, Jonathan Briggs, effective June 26, 2026. 

The District 2 School Board member represents communities in the north-central portion of Prince George's County, including College Park, Greenbelt, Berwyn Heights, Riverdale Park, Riverdale, New Carrollton, and surrounding neighborhoods.

The school system serves a diverse student population from urban, suburban and rural communities located in the Washington, DC suburbs. The Board of Education works to advance student achievement through community engagement, sound policy governance, accountability and fiscal responsibility. The school system's highest priority is to prepare students to meet the demands of college and careers PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS .

Applications will be accepted through 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The individual selected will complete the remainder of the current term, ending December 2026.

Applicant Criteria:

In accordance with State Law, applicants must: 

  • Be a registered voter of Prince George's County.
  • Be a resident of School Board – District 2. 
  • Not hold another office of profit in Prince George's County Government.

Applicants should be prepared to provide documentation verifying residency and voter registration. Individuals under consideration by the County Executive must also be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation.

  • A current résumé.
