The Human Resources Division is responsible for personnel services, recruitment, hiring, training, staff development, research, accreditation and compliance with Federal, State, and local accreditation standards.
The Compliance Unit maintains and reviews the official manuals (policies and procedures, post orders, inmate handbook etc.) and oversees facility certification by the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards and accreditation by the American Correctional Association.
The Personnel Unit performs the day-to-day personnel services required for a large organization: payroll, time and attendance, performance evaluations, maintaining personnel files, testing processes (entry level and promotional) and as liaison to the county Office of Human Resource Management.
The Recruitment Unit represents the department at career-related events and job fairs. Recruiters distribute recruitment materials in the community and help establish a list of applicants for correctional officer positions.
The Development, Education & Training Academy includes uniformed and civilian employees who deliver or coordinate all aspects of the departmental training program, including a fifteen-week State-certified Training Academy for new recruits, an annual In-service Training Program for all employees, supervisory training, mid-level managers' training and executive level training.
