Stephen J. McGibbon, CPA, CIA, CISA
Stephen serves as the Director of Finance for Prince George’s County, Maryland; the Secretary Treasurer of the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County, Maryland; and President of the Maryland Government Finance Officers Association for the 2023-2024 term – a volunteer role. Stephen also sits as a trustee for several public pension plans, and as a trustee for the County’s Deferred Compensation and OPEB plans.
Stephen began his career in public accounting; served as a senior auditor in the OIG community; and served as the Deputy County Auditor for Prince George’s County, Maryland, before moving into the finance field. In his current role, Stephen has oversight of the County’s Risk Management, Debt Management, Tax Collections, Investment, and Financial Reporting functions, along with other traditional duties in the Office of Finance.
Stephen has 32 years of experience in auditing, business process analysis, public financing, management and administration in the public and private sectors, with 28 years in local government. He is an honors graduate, with a B.B.A. – Accounting Degree from Howard University School of Business. He is also a Certified Public Accountant – Maryland, Certified Information Systems Auditor; and a Certified Internal Auditor.
