Regis Bryant

Regis Bryant serves as Deputy Director of Code Compliance for the Office of Homeland Security. He oversees Countywide property maintenance for both residential and commercial properties, zoning compliance, rental licenses, and other related initiatives within the scope set by the Director of Homeland Security.

Deputy Director Bryant is a seasoned law enforcement executive with over three decades of distinguished public service. Appointed Chief of Police for the City of Glenarden in April 2022, he led a full-service, 24/7 police department serving a core population of over 6,500 residents—while effectively supporting a service area that exceeds 200,000 due to the city’s strategic location.

Deputy Director Bryant’s career began with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., where he served for 28 years and retired as a Commander. His leadership roles included commanding the Emergency Response Team and overseeing specialized units such as Harbor Patrol, Horse Mounted, Canine, Air Support, and Explosive Ordinance. He played a vital role in coordinating major citywide events and worked closely with the United States Secret Service to ensure the safety of national and international dignitaries.

As Inspector of the Patrol Services Bureau, Deputy Director Bryant supervised operations across seven patrol districts, the School Security Division, and Special Liaison Units, managing over 2,900 officers. He was responsible for reviewing critical administrative investigations and monitoring crime trends to ensure strategic responses to violent crime.

During his tenure as Commander in one of Washington, D.C.’s most challenging districts, he led more than 300 personnel and was instrumental in transforming community relations and officer morale. His leadership earned him the title of Commander of the Year in 2017, with his district receiving 8 out of 9 departmental awards.

Deputy Director Bryant holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in management and community development from Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session 219), the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (Session 68), and the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy (Session 21) at FLETC.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Deputy Director Bryant has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus and served as President of the Executive Board of the Police Chiefs’ Association of Prince George’s County.
