Dr. Katina Gomez

Dr. Katina Gomez was appointed Director of the Prince George’s County Office of Homeland Security in August 2025. A nationally respected public safety executive, Dr. Gomez brings more than two decades of experience in law enforcement, emergency management, and crisis leadership.

 

She began her distinguished career with the Prince George’s County Police Department, where she rose through the ranks to become the highest-ranking female officer in the department. As a former Deputy Chief, Dr. Gomez oversaw critical operations and led innovative initiatives to strengthen community trust, improve officer readiness, and enhance interagency collaboration.

 Recognized as an expert in homeland security and crisis management, Dr. Gomez has advised on strategies to protect communities from both natural disasters and man-made threats. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in resilience, transparency, and partnership, ensuring that every resident, community, faith group, and business in Prince George’s County feels protected and supported.
