Maryland's Department of Human Services is the state’s primary social services provider, offering support through programs such as food assistance, child welfare, energy and housing support, and services for vulnerable individuals and families. Its mission is to help Marylanders achieve and maintain self-sufficiency, safety, and stability.
Zaran Gabriel Mowatt is an Outreach Liaison/Ombudsman with the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS), where they specialize in community outreach and engagement to promote awareness and accessibility of DHS programs. In this role, Zaran works closely with local organizations and stakeholders to strengthen community ties and ensure that vital resources reach Maryland's diverse populations. Zaran holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Miami, where they developed a strong foundation in cross-cultural communication, global policy, and community advocacy—skills they now apply in their work to support Maryland’s communities.
