Commercial Property Improvement Program

Commercial Property Improvement Program

The Redevelopment Authority of Prince George’s County (RDA) announced the 2025/2026 Commercial Property Improvement Program (CPIP) grant, totaling $250,000 in available funding for eligible properties located within the Central Avenue Blue Line Corridor and Suitland-Naylor Road Metro Sustainable Community areas. Applications for funding are now being accepted.

Applications will be available beginning April 15, 2026, and must be submitted no later than May 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

A virtual pre-application information session webinar will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interested participants must RSVP by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, to receive the Zoom link and passcode. RSVP requests should be sent to CPIP@co.pg.md.us.

This initiative is intended to support the revitalization of underperforming retail centers and main street storefronts through assistance with exterior façade enhancements, placemaking, lighting, and major building systems improvements.

CPIP requires a 50% applicant match for all awarded program funding. Applicants must therefore demonstrate the ability to fund at least half of the total project cost to be eligible. The minimum grant award is $25,000 (requiring at least $50,000 in total project costs), and the maximum grant award is $125,000 (requiring at least $250,000 in total project costs).

The goal of the program is to select applicants with the strongest market potential for investment. Commercial space occupied exclusively by places of worship or non-retail uses is not eligible for funding. Shopping center owners who received CPIP funding in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 or 2024 are not eligible to apply for this funding cycle.

CPIP will reimburse up to 50% of approved construction costs as such costs are incurred and documented. However, architectural design and permit costs will not be reimbursed until construction is complete. Construction on approved projects must commence within 90 days of grant approval and must be completed within 270 days of approval.

Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
